Through the 2030 Jakarta Spatial Plan (RTRW) Bylaw, we anticipate city’s facilities and infrastructures as well as development in Greater Jakarta areas (Jabodetabekjur) that is projected to be occupied by 30 million people in 2030. It becomes a challenge for Jakarta Provincial Government and City Administrations in Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, and Cianjur,” stated Basuki in the Jakarta Parliament (DPRD) Exclusive Plenary Meeting in commemorating city’s anniversary, Sunday (6/22).According to Basuki, global economy development, which began to lead to East Asia, has an impact to Jakarta’s existence. For that, Jakarta needs to do some changes and anticipations through the times.
Jakarta 487 Anniversary, City Gets Bitter GiftIn line with world’s development, Jakarta also plays a role in many international forums, such as host of APEC Senior Official Meeting, Asian-European Meeting, and ASEAN Meeting for the Governors/Mayors. To develop the role in international forums, for example, as a member of United Cities and Local Government (UCLG-ASPAC), C-40 Climate Change, and Asian Networks of Major Cities (ANMC) 21, Jakarta needs to corporate with Sister Cities of big cities in the world.
“The cooperation includes vocational training for manpower, youth empowerment in participating sports competition, tourism promotion, education and cultural art exchange, as well as water management that are in accordance to Jakarta’s needs,” he uttered.
Basuki asserted that the quality of cultured and civilized youth and citizens should be a key in developing the city, so it would have a lot of benefits for the people. Because of that, public’s and city government officials’ paradigm should be changed from currently undisciplined to be disciplined, integrated, honest, clever, and sincere in their dedication. In addition, Jakartans as a community, a people, and a nation should be more solid, unite, and in harmony in realizing changes and improvements.
“Social and Economic Macro Indicator rise optimism and improvement. Jakarta’s positive economic improvement impacts on Gross Regional Domestic Products (PDRB) of Rp 111.91 million per capita in 2012 to Rp 126.12 million in 2013. Meanwhile, Jakarta’s economic growth in 2014 is projected to reach 6.1-6.5 percent,” he explained.
